I work full time at the University Children’s Hospital making chemotherapy for our tiniest patients! I’m a mother of two little ones — ages one and five. They keep me busy! My hobbies include live music and tattoos! I’m a military wife, and our family has served one very long deployment. I’m learning to love my body and all the amazing things it’s capable of. Keto has saved my life.
I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my youngest. I promised myself I would stay on track, even after baby arrived. Well, I went a little carb crazy after not having much for 9 months and gained back all of my baby weight, plus some. I woke up on a random Thursday and decided TODAY is the day!!! I’m getting back on track! And I haven’t looked back!
I’m proud to say that I’m eight months in and haven’t had one single cheat meal! It’s just not worth it to me. I’ve worked too hard and come too far. Cheat days are a slippery slope, and it’s a risk I’m just not willing to take.
Not sure I’ve ever left ketosis. I don’t use any sort of sticks or anything. I just follow the plan and trust the process.
I track my meals on MyFitnessPal. I tried doing the lazy Keto thing and stopped tracking. I also stopped losing. So back to tracking I went!
They’ve been great! Family tried to be mindful of meals when we are over for dinner or events. I’ve also learned to pack snacks or bring something for myself! I have a great support system and they want to see me succeed! I have had to deal with my husband bringing junk food into our home. But one or two nights on the couch and I think he’s learned his lesson! Kidding! Kind of ;) He does his best to set me up for success.
Yes! Twice now my loss has come to a complete stop. I’ve cut out some artificial sweeteners and started working out. The scale is moving again. Trust the process!
More energy, better sex life (TMI, I know!) I sleep better, I don’t feel bloated or disgusting after I eat and my mind isn’t as foggy. My self esteem is at an all-time high.
Going on vacation was a little tough. Lots of temptation, but I pushed thru!
I did have some leg cramping in the very beginning. But nothing a little magnesium couldn’t fix.
I usually intermittent fast. 16:8. A typical day of meals – breakfast might be some eggs and bacon. Lunch might be egg salad, tuna, ham and pickle roll up, pork rinds, sugar free jello and cheese. Dinner typically consists of meat (chicken/steak/pork chops) and a salad or veggies like cauliflower or fresh green beans.
So many to choose from. Sausage eggroll in a bowl, keto pizza, keto meatloaf or loaded cauliflower rice.
I’m a huge Chipotle fan! I eat that a lot. I usually get a chicken bowl with no rice or beans. Lettuce, extra sour cream, pico, and cheese!
Chocolate! Cheese cake! Brownies!
Stick with it. Even when you feel stuck, or the scale stops. Weight loss isn’t linear. You’re going to go up and down all the time! Don’t let that derail you. If you do cheat, get right back on with your next meal! And don’t beat yourself up. Life happens. Keep moving forward. You will not regret it.
